Dental Crown Candidacy
Oral Health
Other than the tooth you intend to treat with a crown, you should be in good oral health. If you have a more serious dental condition or periodontal disease, we may first need to treat those issues before moving onto your crown.
Enamel Density
You will need to have a sufficient amount of healthy enamel if you wish to cap a natural tooth with a crown. If your enamel is not strong enough, it may be better to extract the tooth and replace it through dental implant treatment.

Here are the steps for treatment when you receive a crown at our Chicago, IL, dental practice...
The Cost of Dental Crowns We Make Dentistry Affordable
What does a crown cost?
At our practice in Chicago, IL, a single crown costs between $900 and $1,100. While this may seem steep, remember that treatment with crowns is often necessary to preserve the function of your bite. Choosing not to receive a crown will only cause more pain and expense down the line. We will work with you to make sure restorative dental care fits in your budget.
Will insurance cover a crown?
Many dental insurance plans will partially or completely cover the cost of dental crowns. Our team is available to review your policy with you and make sure you maximize your benefits. We accept payment from several different providers, relieving our patients' out-of-pocket expenses.
Are there other financing options?
Yes! We work with CareCredit®, a third-party lender that enables you to split the cost of dentistry into manageable monthly payments, reducing the up-front cost of treatment.

I have already lost my tooth. How do implant-supported crowns work?
Dental Implants The Next Best Thing to Natural Teeth
If you have missing teeth or need to have your damaged tooth extracted, dental implants are your best option for tooth restoration. Implants are titanium posts that our dentist can surgically place in your jawbone. Over a period of a few months, the implants fuse with the bone, and they are then able to provide secure support to crowns and dentures.
As a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Dr. Hessberger is one of the most qualified implant dentists in all of Chicago. If you are curious about dental implants, we encourage you to send us a message today.
